Dietary Recommendations

Your diet is an integral part of making your switch to natural supplements successful. We realize that you may not be able to follow these dietary recommendations all the time, but try to follow them when you can and your body will reward you!

Try to consume the following food products as much as possible:

  • Fresh, raw fruits and vegetables
  • Cooked vegetables, including legumes (beans)
  • Lean meats, poultry, fish, cheeses (not processed) and eggs
  • For sweetening: honey (raw or tupelo honey*), pure maple syrup or whole cane sugar
  • Real cottage cheese, real butter and full-fat yogurt
  • Raw milk (cow or goat) if available
  • Filtered or bottled water
  • Whole grains, such as brown rice, steel-cut oatmeal, millet, corn, barley, etc…

Purchase the following food products from your local health food store:

  • Natural and whole products like pancake mix, whole grain pasta, etc…
  • Sea salt
  • Cold-pressed and unrefined oils, such as safflower, sunflower and soy oils.
  • Natural peanut butter (non-hydrogenated)**
  • Mayonnaise made with unrefined oil
  • Whole grain breads (unenriched) like whole wheat
  • Raw nuts and seeds

Try to Avoid the following food products:

  • Margarine and hydrogenated shortenings**
  • All refined carbohydrates such as candy, cake, pie, ice cream, soda, cookies, etc…
  • High potency vitamins which are mostly fractions of vitamin complexes
  • Pasteurized milk (use sparingly, if at all)
  • Splenda, Equal, NutraSweet and all other artificial sweeteners
  • Most cracker and potato chip products

*Diabetics use tupelo honey only and sparingly with knowledge of their physicians.
**Hydrogenated and partially hydrogenated are not the same-the latter is worse.
